We've already explained in previous tutorials that, once you upload files to Google Drive, you can share them with other people or download them to other devices. But what if you don't want to store some of your files on Google Drive anymore, either because you don't feel like sharing them anymore or you're running out of memory storage space? Not to worry; Google Drive makes this easy, too!

Remove Quick Access From Google Drive

Access Google Drive with a free Google account (for personal use) or Google Workspace account (for business use). Google Drive Settings. On the page for your Google Drive settings you alter: 1. The default language. The time zone and choosing to show bold when a file has been ‘updated' 3. See you storage used so far. Edit your profile and access your account settings. How to delete files from Google Drive

  1. Go to drive.google.com in your web browser and log in.

  2. Find the file that you wish to remove from Google Drive, and click on it to select it. Then, click the Remove icon in the upper-right corner (it looks like a trashcan).

    Note that removing a file from your Google Drive will not prevent anyone with whom you have shared the file from still accessing it. This is because you have not permanently deleted the file yet; we'll go over how to do that in the next step.

  3. You can click the Trash menu on the left-hand side to see any files that you have temporarily removed from your Google Drive. Though other people may still be able to access them (if you have shared them), their usual actions will not be available (at least for you).

    Click on a file to select it, and then click Delete Forever in the upper-right corner to permanently delete it from Google Drive (this will prevent anyone whom you've shared it with from accessing it anymore, too). A window will pop up warning that this action is irreversible; click Delete Forever in this window if you are sure that you wish to permanently delete the selected file from Google Drive.

    You can also click on a file and then click Restore to put it back into your Google Drive.

Today, we will be showing you how to use a new feature called Quick Access.

No, it is not the shortcuts you see in the Start Menu, rather it is found in Windows 10's File Explorer. Pinned items:

These are shortcuts to folders which you have pinned to the Quick Access menu. This would be highly useful for folders you work with often, such as the Downloads Folder, or Movies, Music, Ebook folder or basically any folder which you wish to add. Note however, that you cannot pin an individual file to the Quick Access menu, you can only pin the folder it contains.

Access

Unlike the icons and tiles which you have pinned to the Taskbar, or the Start Menu, the items which have been pinned to the Quick Access menu have a pin icon besides their name.

Frequently Accessed Folders:

Unlike Pinned items, which you add manually, the frequently accessed folders feature automatically adds the shortcuts to the folders you use often. The shortcuts work similar to pinned items, but will be replaced by folders which you use more often.

Frequently Accessed Folders has a sub-group called Recent Files, which provides direct access to the files which you recently opened. To view these, click on the 'Quick Access' icon in the File Explorer.

How to add or remove items from File Explorer's Quick Access in Windows 10:

Pin an app to Quick Access:

Google

Open File Explorer and navigate to any folder which you wish to pin.
Right-click on the Folder's name and select Pin to Quick Access

The folder will be pinned to the Quick Access menu in the left pane of the File Explorer. You can also add multiple folders to the Quick Access menu by holding shift and selecting the folders and selecting 'Pin to Quick Access'.

Unpin an app from Quick Access: (Remove a folder or file from Frequently Accessed Folders/Recent Files)

Right-click on any pinned item and select 'Unpin from Quick Access'. Similarly right-click on any Frequently Accessed Folder and select 'Remove from Quick Access'.

You can also click on the Quick Access icon to view Frequently Accessed Folders/Recent Files and right-click on any item and select 'Remove from Quick Access'.

You can remove multiple items from the Quick Access menu by holding shift and selecting the folders and selecting 'Unpin from Quick Access' or 'Remove from Quick Access' for frequently accessed folders/recent files.
